Folk Singers perform for charity
It was a sonorous celebration of local culture as the Jamaican Folk Singers put on a fine performance at the University Chapel on the grounds of The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Kingston last weekend.
“The audience loved it and thought it was a world-class performance,” Coleen Lewis, event organiser, told the Jamaica Observer.
The hour-and-a-half programme was broken up into seven sections, each offering delightful favourites that brought back many childhood memories and garnered plenty of applause upon completion.
The sections ranged from the opener Nice Up Yuself, the religious- tinged In God We Trust and Revival. Mixed within all were beautiful renditions, complete with drama, of Long Time Gal and Oil In My Lamp. Read more
