Simpson-Miller to Receive UWI Research Fellowship
Nationwide News understands that former Prime Minister and ex-PNP President, Portia Simpson Miller, is to be appointed a Fellow of the University of the West Indies, U.W.I.
Sources say Mrs. Simpson Miller is to be given an office on the Mona campus where she’ll document her life and works.
A fellow in academia is a member of a group of people who work together pursuing mutual knowledge or practice.
The title of fellow is used to denote an academic position at a university and is roughly equivalent to the title of lecturer.
Mrs. Simpson Miler earlier this month stepped down as Opposition Leader and PNP President. She’s been replaced by Dr. Peter Phillips.
However, she remains the Member of Parliament for South West St. Andrew.
The honorary appointment is not expected to immediately take her away from representational politics. Read more
