Two parties, one concert for The UWI Chancellor’s Week 2018

A weekend-long celebration of Caribbean music and culture

Two parties and a concert are included in the entertainment line-up for Chancellor’s Week, as The University of the West Indies (The UWI) celebrates its 70th anniversary.

On Saturday, July 28, the Pelican All White Breakfast party kick starts the weekend at 6:00 a.m. at The UWI Mona Campus’ Oriental Gardens. The JA$10,000 per person entrance fee offers patrons the finest in food and music including a live performance by Trinidad and Tobago’s premier soca artiste, Machel Montano. The all-inclusive event is produced in collaboration with Jamaica’s celebrated party promoters Sunnation.

On that same day, the B4 Summer Ends Cooler Fete begins at 8:00 p.m. and features some of Jamaica’s best DJs. Catering to the younger party fans and university students, tickets cost JA$2,000 (for students with ID), JA$2,500 (presold) and JA$3,000 (at the gate).

On Sunday, July 29, Barbados’ saxophonist extraordinaire Arturo Tappin, Jamaica’s Myrna Hague and Desi Jones & Friends team up for the Chancellor’s Jazz Farewell, to close the week off on a high note. The entrance fee is JA$7,500 per person for this wine, cheese, and jazz/reggae concert under the stars at The UWI Mona’s Oriental Gardens.

Proceeds from Chancellor’s Week will go toward The UWI Regional Endowment Fund (UWIREF) to support undergraduate and graduate students, research and other developmental projects.
