
UWI to honour Chanderpaul
VETERAN Guyana and West Indies cricketer Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be honoured on Saturday when a University of the West Indies Vice-Chancellor’s team plays an England XI in a 50-overs game at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The match will be a warm-up for the England squad which will take on the West Indies in a three-match One-Day International series.
A former West Indies captain, Chanderpaul’s 22-year international career ended in 2016, His son, Tagenarine, will play for the UWI Vice-Chancellor’s XI. In a brief ceremony in-between innings, Tagenarine will receive the special tribute and commemorative plaque on his father’s behalf.
It bowls off at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public. It will also be streamed live on www.windiescricket.com. The UWI Vice-Chancellor’s XI Cricket Match will be a warm-up match preceding England’s tour of the West Indies for a three-match ODI series. Read more
